When you travel to Breckenridge, Colorado, you may want to experience a day off of the ski slopes or just do something out of the ordinary for a day. If that is the case, then you need to check out the largest historic district in Colorado.
Breckenridge's main street is the largest historic district in Colorado and as such features a variety of shops, many activities and multitude of attractions that entertain and delight individuals and families. On Main Street, you will see some of the earliest homes in town, which range from log cabins to mail-order houses and stately residences. Also on Main Street, you will find evidence of Breckenridge's commercial history by viewing buildings that have at one time or another housed stores, the local bank, offices, the theater, the barbershop, restaurants, hotels and of course, saloons. You will also be able to view the 1880 Alice G. Milne House and the 1896 W.G. Briggle House. You can even check out the courthouse, school and several churches.
The Historic District has nearly 170 registered historic buildings. The town of Breckenridge was founded in 1859 and is the oldest continually occupied community in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Come and enjoy a wonderful activity away from the slopes.
